Even though the monsoon has knocked in Delhi NCR, people have still not got rid of the scorching heat. The temperature crossed 40 degrees on Sunday in the national capital. However, the Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and partly cloudy conditions in the next four to five days.

The Safdarjung Observatory on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius, 3 degrees above normal. The humidity level ranged from 46 percent to 85 percent. The weather stations at Palam, Najafgarh, Ayanagar and Pusa recorded a maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees. The India Meteorological Department announced the monsoon on Thursday, two days before the normal date on 27 June. However, Mahesh Palawat of Skymet Weather, a private weather forecasting service, said that the rainfall in Delhi will be less for the time being and the weather will remain dry for a few days.

The monsoon usually reaches Kerala on June 1 and it takes 45 days to reach Sriganganagar in western Rajasthan, its last place in the country. In 2013, the monsoon reached across the country on 16 June. At the same time, there was a severe flood in Uttarakhand.

Let us tell you that this year the monsoon has reached the whole country about 12 days before the scheduled time. The Meteorological Department issued a statement saying that the monsoon has now become active in the entire country. However, the scheduled date of arrival of monsoon is July 8 in the border areas of Rajasthan and some areas of Punjab.
