The Puri administration has announced the imposition of a two-day curfew to avoid gathering of crowds during Lord Jagannath’s Rath Yatra return festival in the wake of the Coronavirus epidemic. The administration announced on Saturday that curfew will remain in the district from 10 am on June 30 to 10 pm on July 2.
Lord Jagannath returns to Sri Mandir along with his siblings during this festival known as “Bahuda Yatra”. This festival will be celebrated on 1 July.
An official said that all entryways to Puri will remain sealed and no vehicles other than those involved in the Rath Yatra festival will be allowed at the time of curfew. A day before this announcement, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appealed to the people to follow the Supreme Court order and Kovid-19 guidelines to make the Rath Yatra return festival a success.
